The Native Speaker Week 2015
This school year, like every year, all the students of the 9th form participated in the Native Speaker Week, organized by their English teachers Mag. Christine Schumann, Mag. Sigrid Grabmayr, Mag. Maria Pauer and Mag. Petra Loidl. The students very much enjoyed the schooldays, as there were highly different from the daily routine at school.
Below you can read statements by participants about how they experienced the week:
The Games (Laura Brandstetter, 5A)
Our English-in-Action-Week was very interesting and also great fun. Our teachers, Bernadette and John, were very, very nice. They played a lot of funny English games with us, like "The Murderer Game". The English-in-Action project was an important experience for us and it helped us improve our abilities to speak English.
What we learned (Jana Kratzer & Viktoria Macho, 5B)
The week we spent with the native speakers was really great and highly educational. We learned to communicate with each other in a different language and it was very interesting to see how we all coped with that situation. On the first day everybody got a small booklet in which we did some units, like "Survival". In this way - and while talking and joking with our British teachers - we learned a lot of new words. So, besides improving our English skills, we also had a lot of fun together and everyone enjoyed the different way of learning English in those five days. Unfortunately, the best days pass the fastest.
The teachers (Katharina Mrvelj & Sara Susilovic, 5C)
This whole week wouldn't have been such a success without our amazing teachers. We got a closer insight into the British culture and our British teachers helped us whenever necessary. Even if we made a grave mistake, there were no embarrassing moments. Throughout the week we definitely gained more confidence in speaking English and therefore we, the 9th graders, want to thank all our teachers - Mohammed, Larry, Caleb, Lisa, Bernadette and John. Thank you for giving us both a funny and an educational experience!
The presentations and sketches (Anna Lehner, 5N)
All in all, our native speaker week was pretty exciting and funny, but I was especially fond of the last day, because there we had to do a kind of presentation about a topic we like and perform our well-rehearsed show. This was a quite new experience for us all. Our show was a little contrived fairy tale, but the funny thing was that the princesses in the show were played by the boys in our group. Of course, we also watched the show of the other groups, who did a fairly good job as well.
